SOS Vermont with students from UVM's Rebuilding Vermont course are bringing disaster victims and recovery workers from Central Vermont region a relaxing evening filled with mindfulness awareness, activities, and free yoga offered by Yoga Mountains Lydia Russell. This free event will offer refreshments, and information on mindfulness that participants can take home with them. This event is sponsored by Yoga Mountain, UVM Rebuilding Vermont. *Description of the yoga being offered: "Gentle Yoga" Relax, breathe, and unwind in this gentle yoga class. A perfect way to decrease stress, tension, tightness, and pain, this class will involve simple movements to stretch and strengthen, as well as breathing exercises and basic meditation techniques. Our yoga poses will be done on mats while seated or kneeling on the floor, standing up, and lying on the floor. Modifications will be offered for people working with injuries or physical challenges. No prior yoga experience necessary. Bring more joy, ease, and good health into your life with yoga and meditation! You do not need special yoga clothes for this class, but please wear pants rather than skirts or dresses. We will take off our shoes for class, but you can leave on your socks. Lydia Russell, a yoga practicioner since 1996, and a yoga teacher since 2005, brings her love of poetry and the natural world to her joyful and heart-opening classes.
